Savannah’s finite historic district of 2.3 square miles continues to attract every major hotel chain as the word continues to spread among hospitality industry professionals about coastal Georgia’s First city’s robust vacation destination traffic.
The two latest hotel additions to Savannah’s landmark historic district will give the greater Savannah area a total count of 132 hotels and motels in Chatham County.
The larger of the two planned hotels will be a 109 room Residence Inn slated to come online at 501 West Harris Street in close proximity to Battlefield Park just across Martin Luther King Blvd. from the district. The second planned hotel is Staybridge Suites, an extended stay hotel that will have thirty nine rooms adjacent to the Lincoln Street Parking Garage that intersects East Bryan Street within a city block of Bay Street. This strategically placed four story building and a planned four free standing cottages should be a winner as it is just steps away from River Street
in a nice section of the district between Reynolds Square and Warren Square.
These proposed additions to the metropolitan Savannah area will contribute substantially to the 7% room rate growth over last year. More importantly, our many guest’s lodging options continue to expand as what is arguably one of America’s favorite historic cities continues to be the destination of choice among history loving travelers.
