Savannah's Telfair Museum has featured the art work of motorcycle racer, athlete, adventurer and artist David DeLong.
The Telfair Museum of Art presented the first-ever retrospective of the 50-year career of the late David DeLong. The exhibition, entitled David DeLong: Passages, was on view at the Telfair Academy of Arts and Sciences in early 2006. The show traced his development as an artist and examined his most persistent themes: motorcycle racing, the figure, and architecture.
DeLong (1930-2001) lived in Savannah with his wife, artist Harriett DeLong, from 1994 until his death, and Mrs. DeLong was co-curator of the exhibition.
The Telfair Museum is located on Telfair Square in historic Savannah, Georgia. Hours of operation are Sunday 1 - 5 p.m., Monday 12 - 5 p.m., and Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
