Second Annual Savannah Book Festival

The Festival is scheduled to take place February 6-8, 2009.  The official website states:

The Savannah Book Festival is an annual world-class literary event bringing dozens of popular and critically acclaimed authors and thousands of readers together in historic Savannah, Georgia. It is free and open to the public.

Primary site for the Savannah Book Festival is Telfair Square and the stately buildings around it. The Festival features seven venues, each featuring six consecutive author presentations on Saturday, February 7, 2009 beginning at 10:00 am and ending at 5:00 pm.

Savannah’s own culinary star and restaurateur - Paula Deen - headlines this event, which will take place on Sunday, February 8, 2009 at 12 noon on Telfair Square. Sharing the spotlight with Paula is her fabled southern cuisine from The Lady & Sons.

Winter Blackwater Paddle with Wilderness Southeast

On January 17, 2009 from 12 Noon - 4:00 PM, join the team at Wilderness Southeast on a tour down the river and enjoy the wonderful sights and sounds. 

After basic canoeing instruction, your Wilderness Southeast naturalist will lead the way downstream past tupelo and cypress. The dark, twisted trunks will reflect perfectly in the mirror-dark water. You’ll be on the lookout for turtles, herons and noisy kingfishers diving for their next meal. Maybe you’ll be lucky enough to spot a shy alligator hiding in the shallows. There's beauty around every bend of this peaceful, wild creek.

9th Annual Taste of Savannah

On Friday, February 20, 2009 at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center, Exhibit Hall B, join the rest of Savannah for the 9th Annual Taste of Savannah. According to the official website:

This night out for adults is sure to satisfy your soul and jazz your taste buds with the finest ingredients in town! Taste the best that Savannah has to offer at this annual affair. Taste of Savannah® is a showcase featuring Savannah's most exceptional restaurants and caterers each serving samples of their favorite menu items. There will be cash bars and a raffle for fabulous prizes. Cocktail attire encouraged.

The participants this year include – Belford’s, Wild Wing Café, Sticky Fingers, The Mulberry Inn, Moon River Brewing Company, Leopold’s Ice Cream and MANY MORE.

Tickets are $50 (General Admission – 7:10) and $75 (VIP – 6:30 admission, reserved seating).
