It’s 4th of July week; time to celebrate our Nations 236th Birthday! Here’s where you can catch all the action in Savannah:
Tuesday, July 3rd
6pm – 7pm Fort Stewart will “Salute to the Nation” at Cottrell Field where one artillery round will be fired for each of the 50 states in this tribute to America.
9:15pm The Tybee Island Fireworks Celebration can be seen from the beach, the pier, or anywhere on the eastern side of Tybee Island.
Wednesday, July 4th
10am A Declaration of Independence ceremony will be held at Colonial Park Cemetery on Abercorn Street in Historic Downtown Savannah. Enjoy patriotic music and talks with Christy Crisp from the Georgia Historical Society.
10am – 5pm Fort Pulaski will feature children’s activities, musket and cannon firings, and a presentation on baseball during the Civil War era. After the presentation, visitors can play a pick-up game of baseball with the park staff. ($5 per person/15 and under; free.)
10am – 5pm Fort Stewart has a day of celebration for Soldiers and their families at Newman Field. Fun for the kids includes a Bounce House, climbing wall, trampoline, video arcade, laser tag and more! Cool off in the “Springs Splashpark” pool while the kids play water tag and slip down the water slide. Food will be served from 11 – 2 and you can bowl a free game or two before the concert kicks off at 6pm at Donovan Field where Mario, Mockingbird Sun and Martina McBride will take the stage. (Sorry, no pets or coolers, or video at the concert.)
5pm – 9pm River Street celebrates with music, games and fun for the whole family with the Fireworks show to follow at 9:30pm which be choreographed to music, so tune your radio to KIX965., MIX102.1 or I-95.
7:05pm Savannah Sand Gnats take on the Charleston River Dogs with fireworks immediately following the game.
Please note that the 4th of July is a National Holiday and all city and county offices will be closed in observance.
